£26 low in stock! SOLD OUT
Sustainable Java Teak Root Wood

Teak root bowl with handle 30cm
Size: H: 14 cm L: 35 cm W: 17cm

beautiful and very special hand carved item has been crafted in East Java, Indonesia from carefully managed teak reserves.

teak root bowls are hand carved using the natural shape of the teak root for that unique and abstract shape. the roots are of less interest to the bad guys because it's more work to dig up. But the most beautiful bowls and plates are made from the random root shapes all slightly different. Yes a little expensive, but will last forever and by buying these type of bowls you are helping to support families in areas of the world that are not as fortunate as us

Each bowl is a uniquely beautiful work of natural art. These pieces can either stand alone as eye-catching display, or be used as a functional display for food our any other use you have for them.

please note....The bowls are natural items and may differ slightly from the images - each one is unique and has lots of character, everyone is different, a few lines and cracks here and there, add to the bowl character, they are very useful around the home, they age well, just oil them up occasionally with olive oil to keep them at there best.

our teak wood bowls are carved by by one family in the ubud, the father of the family actually protects the forest too as part of his work.

What is Java Teak?
Teak or Tectona grandis is native to mainly Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Burma. Teak wood contains an oil that helps the wood to be water resistant this same oil content protects the Teak from decay, insects and bacteria.

Java teak is considered by experts to be the best in the world. Treated with just a little care a Java Teak Wood bowl can last a lifetime.

this bowl has been produced and traded ethically and with careful research & regard to the world resources.

Caring for your Java-Teak Wood

This beautiful wood is hardy but does need a little care. Hand-wash with only mild soap and water, don't let the bowl soak, and dry right away with a soft cloth. Never air-dry teak bowls or put them into the refrigerator or dishwasher. Store your bowl away from direct sunlight, heaters and the oven. Occasionally, rub with olive oil to maintain the finish.
