There are seven musical notes that correspond to the seven colours of the rainbow, and these are related to the seven main Chakras, energy centers along the vertebrae. The Chakras all possess a different resonant frequency. The pure tones of crystal bowls produce a vibrational sound field which resonates the body's energy centers (Chakras) and corresponding physical areas. The Crystal Bowls act directly on our chakras and facilitate balance and higher consciousness and healing in the Chakras.

B - The Crown Chakra

Connects with energies from the Universal Source. This Center enables us to interpret our akashic records and our truth. A fully developed and balanced crown can help us to become higher functioning compassionate wise beings

A# - The Pituitary Chakra

Is newly located in the area of the pituitary gland. This Center regulates Light and radiation and when fully activated, will rejuvenate the entire physical body.

A - The Brow Chakra

Vision or Third Eye Center. Here is where our insight, seeing and psychic abilities are located. The centre for intuition, understanding and intellect can draw in and help store the Higher Light frequencies.

G# - The Zeal Point Chakra

Also known as The Well of Dreams, is, at the present time, vestigial. It sits just at the occipital at the back of the head. When fully activated, this Center will regulate multi-dimensional telepathic communication. When the Well of Dreams is fully awakened, the veil between the third dimension will dissolve and we will ascend to the 4th and 5th dimensions. This point also homes the emotions of passion, enthusiasm and zest for life.

G - The Throat Chakra

Governs communication, speech and creativity. This Center teaches us of our truth and manifests the expression of it. Also when balanced helps to collect the pranic energy needed to purify and invigorate the physical body.

F# - The Thymus Center

Assists us in adjusting to our thought-form body. When fully activated, our physical body will respond to our thoughts in a direct fashion. This is when we will 'think it and be it', and where 'instant karma" is manifested - that is to say, 'what we think is what we get', whether it is for our highest good or not. You may be seeing the effects of this new Center now, as manifestation is occurring at a much more rapid rate on the Earth plane. This chakra is also the centre of joy and often spontaneous laughter may be a manifestation of its healing.

F - The Heart Chakra

Remains in its original position. When fully activated, it is the Center of Pure Thought and Unconditional Love. Connects the lower chakras (body centered to the upper which are mind/spirit centered.

E - The Solar Plexus Chakra

Governs protection. Also know as the center of self esteem, and is seen as the seat of the ego and personal power. As this Center begins to activate, all need for manipulation or control of one's reality is transmuted. An inner sense of safety is experienced. A strong solar plexus chakra can be critical for healing in the other chakras

D# - Duality

The newly formed Diaphragm Center, stores strong negative emotions. As this Chakra activates, fear and doubt dissolve. This Center, which sits over the diaphragm, governs full-conscious breathing, which is the ability to draw in the necessary prana or life energy through the breath.

D - The Sacral Chakra or Navel Chakra

Is associated with our connection to our bodies and to others. It is where we feel our sexuality and focuses the beginning of creation. It is also the repository for our emotions and when this center is fully activated, an inner emotion of bliss is experienced.

C & C# - The Root Chakras

The C note is the root chakra that enables us to attune to Mother Earth and anchor the higher frequencies of the Universe to her and within us. When this Center is fully activated, the fear of death is transcended. The C# is also connected to the root chakra and is sometimes called the om or the sexual chakra. Located between the base and the sacral. The sound of the Earth as it travels around the Sun.

Sound has been utilized throughout history to awaken, enhance and attune each Chakra, in many cultures. Because each chakra is vibrational in nature, and resonates at different frequencies, there are specific 'seed sounds', chants, and pitches utilized for these purposes. One of the most popular systems of sound healing therapies is the use of specific pitches to awaken or attune, each Chakra. The modern Western system of music is actually based upon ancient derivatives of sound and pitch in alignment with what the ancients called the 'Universal Harmonies." It was common understanding that differing frequencies, pitches, and harmonies, can provide different qualities of healing, as well as the opposite! These levels of understanding can take decades to truly comprehend and integrate into our own 'knowing. So, we will not go too deeply into it here.

The standard western music scale is comprised of 12 pitches, with a thirteenth note often included. This 13th note is the "higher octave" of the first note. So, we will speak about 13 musical notes in our description of the scale. Each note is a particular frequency. Based on the International Standard of tuning, middle A, in the main clef of our musical scale, above middle C, resonates at 440 Hertz, or cycles per second. This is its frequency, or pitch. Our primary scale, based on A440, which is the International Standard of pitch, begins at middle C. Middle C resonates at 256 Hertz, and continues to the octave above that, high C, resonating at 512 Hertz. This makes high C twice as high, or resonating at twice the frequency, of middle C. This is true for each 'octave" note. We then break down the steps of this basic octave of notes, from middle C to high C, into half steps, or increments. These half steps are C, C#/Db, D, D#/Eb, E, F, F#/Gb, G, G#/Ab, A, A#/Bb, B, C. On a scale, they look like this: image of scale. The '#/b" symbols, represent a sharp or flat, which is halfway between each note. Notice there are no #'s or b's between E and F, and B, and C. This, simply, is how the increments of the notes originate, and are defined, in our system of music. A C# and Db are the same note, halfway between C and D. We list them as #/b, because you may see these listed either way in various descriptions of the scale, or individual notes. There have been uneducated people in the Crystal Bowl industry, actually describing these as two different notes. They are not. They are the same note. So, you have 12 possibilities in pitch, though we include the 13th "high C" to complete a full octave of notes. In reality, your bowl may be in a higher or lower octave, even though labeled C, A, or any other note, depending on its size.

Knowledgeable people claim that the halfway notes of crystal singing bowls have a special harmonising effect on various endocrine glands: C# - sexual glands, D# - adrenals, F# - thymus, G# - thyroid, zeal, G# - pineal.
